In September 2013, we surveyed contractors on Radio Advertising. Below is the result from one of the questions we asked:

What Times of the Day Do You Target for Running Your Radio Ads?

71% of the contractors we surveyed said they target mornings for radio ads, whereas only 42% said they also target afternoons. It is a common misconception that the most amount of people listen to the radio in the morning, however, according to research by Arbitron, the radio ratings company, 10am- 3pm is when the most people are listening to radio.

This is followed by 3pm – 7pm. Morning drivetime, 6am - 10am, is actually third. With that said, it is not just a matter of how many people are listening to the radio, it is a matter of how many people in your target audience are listening to the radio at a particular time.

For this reason, the morning hours are still a good bet for many contracting businesses who are trying to target homeowners because, generally speaking, that is when most are commuting to work and tuned into the radio in their car.
